Ananno Chowdhury, a student of Pakerhat Innovative School
I am Ananno Chowdhury. From 2012 to 2014, that is from Class 1 to Class 3, I studied at Pakerhat Innovative School. The school stands in Pakerhat, Khansama, Dinajpur, is an institution of BDC Foundation, and began its journey in 2009. The first step of my education was taken right here.
My days at the school
I joined this school at only five or six years old and spent three full years here, until I was seven or eight. My mornings were spent in its classrooms, among my teachers and friends.
With my teachers
Principal Uttam Kumar Roy was very friendly and mixed easily with students. His wife, our English teacher, was open and approachable. Learning from teachers like these at such a young age was truly a blessing.
Our Bangla teacher took the Bangla classes. The maths teacher was strict but dedicated: besides maths, he or she taught general knowledge and sometimes sang in class. Even amid the strict discipline, that was the side we loved most. Our cultural teacher looked after all the school’s cultural activities, and in that atmosphere my love for singing and recitation grew.
Memorable experiences
At one school programme I sang a song. Later, I got the chance to recite a poem on stage on behalf of the school at a Union Parishad programme. There I won first place and received a prize. Standing on a stage at such a young age gave me confidence.
My relationship with my teachers was like family. Once I invited them to my home, and every one of them came. I still cherish that day.
With my friends
The most valuable thing school gave me was my friends. Rahul, Aki, Shikha, Koushik, Maruf, Galib, Omi and many others shared my first three school years: studying, playing and making noise together.
